For the photographic artist, images are the very essence of life. Life captured from a planet spinning through space and time on a seemingly endless journey. The time and space continuum creates many different perspectives for the observer. These perspectives are what we all encounter day-in and day-out. Our ability to process what we see is critically linked to our survival.
For the artist, survival is only part of the processing game. The ‘other' part is where the physical world takes on an alternate meaning - divorced from, but not segregated from its survival value. This alternate meaning is grounded in many perceptions, not the least of which are shape, color and texture. Arranged by natural or manmade processes, the artist's challenge is to ‘see' and then ‘capture' the essence of objects in such a way as to make a visionary statement, that all can see. This is not an easy task, but it is attainable for the artist who lives to create these visions.
Randall FitzGerald is one such artist. He seeks to capture images from our surroundings that resonate with untold meaning. Always searching for images that will strike the cord of understanding within all of us. He is by nature a seeker - a seeker of truth, a seeker of vision.
