As an artist, Jane McGraw Teubner has always been involved. Her first
oil painting was done at age 12, a seascape still hanging in her
mother's home. Her love of art led her to an BFA in Art Education
with a brief period teaching art to elementary school children. Her
career then turned to commercial art and she has been a commercial
graphic designer for the past 25 years. After numerous starts and stops
with different mediums throughout the years, she decided to get
serious when she discovered pastels about 10 years ago, with a long
term goal of becoming a signature member of the Pastel Society of
America.
To accomplish this, Jane studied with Master Pastelists Jeff Webb, Frank Federico, Albert
Handell, Larry Blovits and at the Art Students League with Richard Pionk, along with
local pastel artists at the Art League of Long Island.
Jane's artwork has been featured in galleries in New Jersey and Long Island, New York.
She had a one woman show at the Bank of New York in Commack. She has won
numerous local awards at juried shows. She was accepted into the 8th Annual Catharine
Lorillard Wolfe Juried National Show in October 2004 and the Pastel Society of America’s
National Juried Show in 2005 where she won the Salmagundi Award for her pastel
“Pebbles and Beach Grass”. Both shows were held at the National Arts Club in New York
City. Jane was included in the Annual Winners Circle Show at Gallery North, Setauket,
NY, Feb-March 2005 and 2006.
Jane was accepted as a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America in January 2005.
